Keeps Your Colon Clean
Peaches are more than 80 percent water and are a good source of dietary fiber. This combination makes them a perfect remedy for constipation. One medium size peach has 7 percent of the dietary fiber you need each day. Adding fruits like peaches to your diet can keep you regular and prevent straining during bowel movements. Straining has been linked to hemorrhoids, diverticular disease, hiatal hernia and even varicose veins.
Strikes out Cancer
Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, avoiding fat and not smoking can help prevent many types of cancer.
Cancer of the mouth has been increasing in the past several years, and experts think diet could play an important role in this disease. Luckily, you can protect yourself. A study in China showed that men and women who ate peaches more than twice a week had less risk of developing cancers of the mouth than those who did not eat peaches. This study focused on oral cancer, but peaches, like other fruits and vegetables with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, are a good way to steer clear of all kinds of cancers.
